Today I got off work early and I went to G street in Newport to skim. Aside from the drop in temperature due to the fact that it's not Summer anymore...everything was awesome. Waves were as smooth as glass and I had the entire beach to myself. The beach NEVER fails me...even if the waves are shitty I still enjoy myself. It's definitely a get away spot for me. I love the fact that the beach is always open...there are no lines...no hassles...no responsibility...just trying to get barreled. Riding a wave has to be one of the most satisfying feelings. I definitely turn into a "woo girl" when I'm riding a wave. While I was in my own little world I saw dolphins swimming, pelicans flying, and saw pink and purple clouds fade into a vivid orange as the sun set over Catalina. The moon was even visible during the sunset. I wish I had a camera with me. It's days like these that really clear my head and make me happy. I wish I could get off work early everyday...haha. Daylights savings time definitely doesn't help skimboarders that have work.
I love the simple things in life...they're naturally uplifting.
